Hungarian Foreign NGO Regulation

Article

The Hungarian Prime Minister and his Parliament just passed a bill that will regulate foreign non-governmental organisations. This means that if you are an immigrant of any kind, and you want to start an NGO, you will have to get permission from the district leader and pay the tax of 500,000 fornits ($1,800) per year. Hungary has their own culture and state of laws which they have the right to enforce; if they feel like their way of life is in jeopardy then they have a right to defend it especially to  a foreign group they do not know too much about.

Hungarian Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Gergely Gulyas, is at the utmost deepest concern for Hungarian culture, and wants to try and protect it. Gulyas, puts it as “… but organizations whose foreign financing is not known can’t be allowed to take part in Hungarian public life…” . With the out of control immigration going on in Europe today his stance is worthy of worry. This of course didn’t sit very well with the Prime Minister and the European Union, but they still respected their wishes and let them pass the bill.

I think FOX did a pretty good job on this article; they got their source straight from the Hungarian press, and I don’t think you can get more credible than that . This is a story that America can relate to as we have our own immigration problems, however Hungary doesn’t get the backlash from the media as much as America does. I think Pathos plays the biggest role in this article because the USA knows exactly what Hungary is going through and what their concerns are.
